Early start and a quick run to Brasov

5:00am.  Why do we insist on doing this to ourselves?  I couldn’t hear James so I closed my eyes any tried to go back to sleep.  Then I heard his tent zip, bollocks, I was going to have to get up.  We packed up in silence, made a brew and set off.  We knew it was going to be a crap ride and had adjusted the route to try and mix it up a bit.

Thankfully our early start had worked and we had about 3 hours riding with minimal traffic which meant progress was swift and shortly after lunch we arrived in Brasov to meet up with the Welsh Guards advance party.

James and I undertook some ‘off-roading’ today. It was supposed to be a rode but wasn’t really. I was fine on the Tiger XC, but James’ bike is a K1300S not a K1300GS. Luckily we have some video of it so can laugh at it at a later date!

We now have the Romanian junction procedure perfected for all bikers. Approach at speed, change down to 1st gear (so everyone can hear you) check nothing is actually crossing (no one seems to know who has priority) then accelerate hard in 1st gear, making as much noise as possible, whilst screaming for dear life into the intercom, whilst the other riders does something similar.

Game over.

It was with a sombre mood that we packed up camp for the last time on this ride.   We had time on our side before our train back to the UK ...
